Blue Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a superb cabochon of unusual fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with bluish gray agate, and each is framed with a lattice-like network of webbing in shades of brown and tan. Those are the actual cell walls, quite distinct. Many of the agate cells have a frosting of creamy pastel yellow, and/or tiny dots of pale blue within them. This is an example of some of the more unique fossil bone, from my personal collection, though I must say it's prettier in hand, and lighter in color than shown in the photos. The cab has a low rounded dome, a fancy designer 'spear' shape, nicely polished both front and back.
