Hornitas poppy jasper cab ~
Offered here is a fancy cabochon of rare Hornitas poppy jasper, collectible old stock from California. This material has become mighty scarce these days, even moreso than Morgan Hill poppy jasper. This example has a bold pattern that really catches the eye. Its creamy pinkish orbs stand out against a contrasting background of deep, rich burgundy. There are a couple web-like veins present, which are quite well healed, so the stone is wholly sound and stable; there are none of the fractures so common to the poppy jaspers from California's earthquake zones. The cab has a high rounded dome of 6mm, an elegant drop shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
