Pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of African pietersite, cut by Christopher. This example has marvelously silky chatoyance in blends of deep midnight and silvery blue in a swirling, almost harlequin pattern that dances with the light. Fancy flash! However, please be aware that some of the lighter grayish-blue areas are softer, so there is some degree of undercutting, and those spots have a more satiny finish. We feel the cab has plenty of merit in spite of that, and hope someone will appreciate its beauty. It has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, and a long designer 'flame' shape that's polished front and back. Considering how the cost of fine pietersite has positively sky-rocketed in recent years, the per carat price for a stone of this size is truly a bargain!
