Horn Coral cab ~
Offered here is an extraordiary cabochon of fossilized horn coral, from the only known source in Utah, which is now closed to collecting. Horn corals are actually ancient sea life, and you can see the organic nature of this once-living coral in the highly translucent agate. It has the classic 'radiating spoke' figure, in coral pink and reddish-orange, with clear agate between. A close look reveals it also has some fortifications and teensy bullseye patterns, as well as odd bits of agate beneath the surface. Nicely translucent too. Front and center for this one! The stone has a well rounded dome of 5.5mm, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
