Turquoise cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of turquoise from China, cut from hand selected rough fresh from this year's Tucson shows. The stone not only has wonderfully appealing sky blues, but also has golden russet and avocado greens. Each individual nodule within the stone stands out beautifully against a contrasting background of chocolate brown to black, with beautifully detailed spiderwebbing. It reminds me a lot of the old Royston turquoise, the stuff I chose back in the '70s for my own jewelry. This material has been stabilized by a hardening process, as is most modern turquoise, but not dyed. It will wear wonderfully, without changing over the years. The cab has a high rounded dome of 6.5mm, a graceful designer shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
