Rhodochrosite cab ~
Offered here is a large and extraordinarily gemmy cabochon of rhodochrosite, from Catamarca, Argentina. Not easy to come by like it once was, the price of (even mediocre) rough from this classic location has skyrocketed out of sight, if you can find any to buy. This delicious cab is about as good as it gets, with bright vibrant shades of rose-pink coloration in an intricately scalloped and banded pattern, with an exceptional degree of crystalline translucence. One ring appears to be composed of tiny white plumes, quite unusual. The cab has a generously high rounded dome of 7+mm, an attractive designer 'flame' shape, and an excellent polish both front and back. There are some tiny natural pinpoint voids present, but my price of LESS than a buck a carat is a genuine steal of a deal! And I can cut some small rounds to match, if you wish.
