Morrisonite cab ~
Offered here is a large and extraordinary cabochon of morrisonite jasper, from the old Morrison Ranch digs in Oregon. This much coveted, collectibly rare material is a premier member of the porcelain jasper family, and takes a dazzling shine. This example has an array of interesting patterns, that includes patches of deep blood red, and festive confetti in blended shades of avocado green, gold and rusty reddish browns. There are also several streamers in orange, curving diagonally across the stone, for extra added character. It has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a crisp designer 'chevron' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
