Imperial cab ~
Offered here is a distinguished cabochon of Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This markedly striking example features a fascinating orbicular pattern edged with burnt red, that practically leaps out of its pinkish edging. That, in turn, sits artistically in a lighter pastel pink background, streaked with darker pink 'curtains'. The unique pattern fits the shape of the stone quite well, and the backside is just as beautiful. The stone has a high rounded dome of 6.5mm, a long, gracefully curved designer shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
