Indonesian agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of carnelian agate, from Indonesia. This gemmy example has some truly outstanding banding in delicious orange chiffon on ORANGE coloration. In hand, it's rather impressive, even though the color change between bands is somewhat subtle in most of the stone. The rounded end, where the core is, is a bit darker and more saturated. With so many fine bands, I'd bet that if this material was sliced extra thin, it would show irising. Check out the backlit photo enlarged to see the detailed bands. The stone has a well rounded dome of nearly 7mm, a designer 'flame' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
