Apache jasper cab ~
Offered here is a scenic cabochon of Apache jasper, actually a rhyolite, also known as Mimbres Valley jasper since it's found there in New Mexico. This fabulous material just smacks of southwest flavor. And this example has a fine display of cactus-like figures against distant brushy hills, looking very much like the deserts of the legendary old west, in rich shades of maroon and dusty pink. Looks like it's probably raining, what do you think? The stone has a low rounded dome of 5mm, a crisp shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
