Turquoise ~
Offered here is a cabochon of turquoise from China, cut from hand selected rough fresh from this year's Tucson shows. The stone has wonderfully appealing olive and sky blue hues, shading to greens where the two blend, with nicely contrasting jet black spiderwebbing. The green areas are edged with an attractive russet color. It reminds me a lot of the old Royston turquoise, the stuff I chose back in the '70s for my own jewelry. This material has been stabilized by a hardening process, as is most modern turquoise, but it has not been subjected to artificial coloring of any kind. It will wear wonderfully, without darkening or dimming over the years. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6.5mm, and a smooth glossy polish both front and back.
