Covellite cab ~
Offered here is deluxe cabochon of covellite, a rare heavyweight metallic ore of copper from the Leonard mine near Butte, Montana. This awesome, super reflective stone features the classic deep, rich cobalt blue coloration, with subtle moire-like threads dashes of shiny metallic pyrite. It also has several areas of the very desireable rosy-purple flash, although that phenomenon is only visible at certain angles. Photo #2 caught just a hint of the stone's fuschia gleam. In hand, you'll probably be astounded by the cab's hefty weight; it's amazingly heavy for its size. This one ought to make some outstanding heirloom piece of jewelry, no doubt, or a soon-to-be favorite in your collection of ultra-rarities. It has a very high rounded dome of 7mm, a graceful designer 'flame' shape befitting a stone of this calibre, and a bright gleaming polish both front and back.
