Imperial cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of Royal Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This classic example shows its orbs in the form of rings that resemble the growth rings of a tree, in shades of brick red, deep green and tan. Those in turn are surrounded by an unusual blue ring edged with avocado, against a background of old ivory. The stone has a rounded dome of 5mm, a versatile designer shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
