Pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a large, flashy cabochon of pietersite, from Africa. This example features both bright golden yellows and light to deep blue chatoyance that shimmers to life in most any light source. Several areas have rather greenish hues where the two colors blend. Nice threads of rust adding to the palette. The silkiness rolls and changes beautifully as the stone is turned; just as one patch winks off, another flashes to life. This solid beauty is extremely well silicated, showing a couple small patches of agate. The stone has a low rounded dome of about 5mm, and a super slick glassy polish both front and back. A steal of a deal at less than $2 per carat!
