Pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a flashy cabochon of pietersite, from Africa. This example features both bright golden yellows and light to deep blue chatoyance that shimmers to life in most any light source. Several areas are distinctly greenish where the two colors blend. The silkiness rolls and changes beautifully as the stone is turned; just as one patch winks off, another flashes to life. This solid beauty is extremely well silicated, showing a bit of translucence here and there. The camera and I didn't do particularly well with the photos, so I'm hoping you'll trust me when I say it's prettier than these photos show. The stone has a low rounded dome of 5mm, a bold designer shape, and a super slick glassy polish both front and back. A steal of a deal at less than $2 per carat!
