Magnesite in jade cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of black jade with magnetite, from California. I hear this great old time material can still be
collected near Victorville, so I don't understand why it's seldom seen. It's awesome stuff, especially when it's jet black
like this example, with fascinating sprays of contrasting magnetite. The metallics have an intricate crystalline structure
that look like brush strokes, and they sparkle. Terrible photos, excellent in hand!
The stone has a high rounded dome of 5.5mm, a fancy teardrop shape, and a gleaming polish both front and back.
