Carnelian agate cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of gorgeous Oregon carnelian, also known as orange chalcedony. It features juicy translucent orange coloration, with a great display of the internal 'cornflakes' so sought after by collectors. I tried my best to capture the beautiful 'flakes inside this stone, but the saturated color tends to wash out such details. The backlit picture reveals a lot more what's on the inside. I think the stone is more beautiful than the photos, and believe me, carnelian with this rich coloration is none too easy to come by these days! Most show color only on the outside of the rough pieces, in a thin layer of rind. Not this one, it's vibrance is through and through. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a gracefully curved shape, and an excellent glassy polish, slick as can be, both front and back.
