Dinosaur bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with dark shades of maroon agate, with a few in blood red or pale blue. The cells are framed by a web of the actual cell walls, now tan in color, forever frozen in time. There are a couple cells with neat 'cores' inside, making them look like tiny fortified agates, which they are! The stone does have a bit oftranslucent, despite its thickness. The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a crisp designer 'keystone' shape, and it is polished both front and back.
