Petrified wood cab ~
Offered here is a matching trio of petrified wood, classic old stock material from Hollbrook, Arizona. The intriguing patterning in theses stones is due to the agate replacement of the once living wood, and if you look closely, some of the grain is still apparent. I'm fairly sure the species is Auricaria. These striking examples are bright crimson red, with black and tan figure. There are a few hairlines present, typical of this ancient fossil material, as well as a scattering of tiny micro-pits, but the stones are quite sound nonetheless. And truly gorgeous! Each of these cabs has a low rounded dome of 4mm, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
