Botswana agate cab ~
Offered here is a super dramatic cabochon of Botswana agate, from Africa. A long time favorite, this classic agate is renowned for its breathtaking figure, and this one nicely demonstrates why. It has a multitude of intricate fortification bandings (including some areas with parallax), in strongly contrasting shades. The stone is wonderfully translucent, especially the wide root beer brown bands which, oddly enough, contain a pair of tiny reddish 'thorns'. The last photo illustrates the warm honey colored translucence of the stone when backlit. It's a keeper, for sure, one that will certainly 'speak' well in your jewelry creations. It has a low rounded dome of 5.5mm, a gracefully curved designer 'leaf' shape, and it is polished to a glassy brilliance both front and back.
