Imperial cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of imperial jasper, from Mexico. This classic old material is absolutely amazing stuff, a member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. This example has a pattern of broad stripes in shades of avocado greens edged with darker ribbons, alternating with an even lighter pastel that's nearly white. The soft colors are very appealing, as are the little orbs at the wide end. The stone has a high rounded dome of 7mm, a graceful designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
