Moonstone cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of rainbow moonstone, from India. Cut from hard-to-find rough, Romans named it so because they thought it was made of moonlight. It's actually orthoclase, like its closest relative, labradorite. This example has excellent schiller, and really does have rainbow colors, unlike the more common majority that show only blues. There are some natural inclusions present, but the cab is quite perfectly sound, and affordable. It has a high rounded dome of 6.5mm, a crisp designer 'catseye' shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
