Butterfly wing jasper cab ~
Offered here is a sweet cabochon of butterfly wing jasper, from Mexico. This long time favorite brecciated jasper is a much sought after classic, and a favorite in my studio. (For the record, it is NOT the same thing as the newer fantasy jasper found in the vicinity, though there are some similarities. Please visit my 'sold' gallery, where you'll surely discern the difference.) This stone is an excellent example of grand old material, full of colorfully varied figure, including an intriguing patch of dark smoky and maroon agate. Any odd lines are either totally and naturally healed or simply part of the pattern, so you just can't go wrong with this beauty; it definitely won't disappoint! The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6.5mm, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
