Lake Superior agate cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of Sonora Sunrise, from Mexico. This fabulous new material has a wonderfully striking color combination, and it is 100% natural. Rough rock is on the spendy side, but I think the brilliant cabs it yields make it well worthwhile. This example has a pleasing pattern of blood red cuprite and jet black (tenorite?) contrasting against green chrysocolla. The bright red areas are edged with black, making them stand out sharply. It's truly amazing stuff, just bristling with designer potential, as this brilliant stone just naturally captures admiring attention wherever it goes. I think you'll do great things with it, in even the simplest of settings. The cab has a nicely rounded dome, a gracefully sweeping designer shape, and a surprisingly glossy polish both front and back.
