Description
~ Cacoxenite in amethyst cab ~

Offered here is a cabochon of amethyst with inclusions of golden cacoxenite, a rarity cut from grand old Brazilian material. Technically, the inclusions are the mineral goethite, and I can truthfully tell you that those little spikes are the most amazingly bright golden color I've ever seen in rock! Their appearance is like spun gold, and as you can see, they look a lot like 'thorns', which are arranged mostly in a row. The backlit photo reveals that the translucent lavender quartz has several subtle but fascinating phantom crystal growth lines, and those lines meet at a ninety degree angle in the rounded end of the stone. There are a few areas of the typical 'fairy frost' inclusions present, but nothing at all distracting in a stone of this size and calibre. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.

Size: 48x13mm
Weight: approximately 24 carats

Price: SOLD Current gemstones for sale $59.00
