Silver in cobaltite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of native silver in cobaltite, from the Cobalt, Ontario, Canada mine. This is a collectibly rare material you definitely don't see everyday, one that's very difficult to find and expensive when you do. It has a high precious silver content, and certainly looks the part, being surprisingly heavy for its size. The cab took an unbelievably shiny polish, and although the surface may appear bumpy in the photos, it is completely smooth. Very reflective and brilliant, almost like chrome! I think this one's much more beautiful in hand, with scattered patches of creamy ivory white that set off the silver areas wonderfully. Surely you'll find a special use for such a unique treasure. It has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a graceful designer 'flame' shape, and a smooth, gleaming finish both front and back.
