Snake eyes agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of 'snake eyes agate', strange new stuff from Mexico. I don't rightly know if there's such a thing as oolitic agate, but I do believe the tightly packed little eyes (or eggs?) in this material are properly called oolites. The purplish gel-like background in which they float is definitely agate, but I've never seen anything quite like this, have you? Several of the eyes have dusty rose or crimson centers, as you can see in the photos, and the pinkish tint of the orbs really sets off this stone. Strange stuff, indeed, and very unique! The cab has a well rounded dome of 7mm, a designer 'spear' shape, and a smooth gleaming polish both front and back.
