Rhodochrosite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of rhodochrosite, from Argentina, cut from a slice of stalactite base. Not easy to come by like it once was, last I heard, the price of classic rhodochrosite is strictly controlled by the Argentinian goverment. -grr- This fascinating stone features vibrant pink coloration, with a large and beautiful bullseye framed in concentric scalloped banding. I particularly like the dark gleaming metallics in this one, adding much to the character and contrast. Yes, there is a degree of pitting along the metallic row toward the edge, but such voids are typical and forgiveable, and the stone remains perfectly sound. It has a very high rounded dome of 10+mm, a versatile designer shape you'll have fun with, and it is polished to a lustrous brilliance both front and back.
