Petrified wood cab ~
Offered here is a fine cabochon of petrified wood, classic old stock material from Arizona. The intriguing patterning is due to the agate replacement of the once living wood, though some of the grain is still apparent, and I'm fairly sure the species is Auricaria. This colorful example has areas of crimson, orange, peach, purple, blue gray and black, and a very translucent crystalline area, with next to none of the typical fractures pet wood so often has. It's even nicer in hand, simply gorgeous! It's bound to look grand in a pendant, or your collection, or ?? The cab has a very high rounded dome of nearly 7mm, a gracefully fluid drop shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
