Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of the new Royal Sahara jasper, recently found in the North African Sahara desert. My young son Christoper pestered me until I cut and gave him a slice to try, and I think he did a fine job with his very first cab of this amazing porcelain material, wouldn't you agree? This stuff has so much going for it, it's hard to describe... In some ways, it's like the old Deschutes jasper, and like Biggs jasper as well, with even wilder, more exotic patterns. There are ribbons of tans and rich browns, sandy shades too, with lovely waves of subtly bluish charcoal gray. There's even a few tiny black dendrites, too. Just gorgeous. This substantial stone has a very high rounded dome of fully 9mm, and a designer shape that encompasses the remarkable pattern wonderfully well.
