Raspberry tube agate cab ~
Offered here is an exceptionally beautiful cabochon of raspberry tube agate, from Mexico. This highly figured agate is a relatively new material, and I must say I like it a lot! It was mined at the Crown Of Silver psilomelane claims as an extra added bonus. The deep raspberry coloration is due to the infiltration of rhodonite, so the miner tells me. This example has several dark tubes, eyes and dots of psilomelane in its sparkly crystalline agate base, along with some subtle fortifications in white and clear agate, and tendrils of lovely raspberry red moss. Adding to its character is a sparkling drusy core, complete with tiny terminated crystals. The stone is wonderfully translucent, as illustrated by the backlit photo, giving this one a fascinating dimension of depth. No doubt it will spark the designer's imagination in you! The cab has a high rounded dome of 6mm, a sleek, versatile shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
