Botswana agate cab ~
Offered here is a dramatic cabochon of Botswana agate, cut from old stock African material. Getting hard to come by lately, and commands a premium price when you do find the good stuff. This example has an outstanding pattern of fortification banding that frames a teardrop shaped eye. The colors are classic, if difficult to describe, but here goes: There's palest purple-brown (puce?), pale blue, white, light and dark grays, and plenty in between. The well-defined tube formations, visible at one corner, add much to the unique character of the stone. It's a real keeper! One that will certainly 'speak' well in your jewelry creations, whatever your plans for it, in even the simplest of settings. It has a very high rounded dome of 8mm, a fat teardrop shape, and it is polished to a glassy brilliance both front and back.
