Description
~ Royal Sahara jasper cab ~

Offered here is a cabochon of the splendid new Royal Sahara jasper, recently found in the North African Sahara desert. This fine porcelain material is quite perfectly astonishing, to say the least. It's silicied mud flows, or so I hear, much like the old Deschutes and Biggs Junction jaspers. But I think it has even wilder and more exotic patterns. This example is sort of a topsy turvy scenic, like a tiny window to another world where gravity does not rule. It has a patch of grayish blue agate at one side, filled with jet black dendrites, and above that, is an arch like one I once saw in the Arizona desert. Only there was no waterfall in that desert! But there was a big yellow full moon... and sandy dunes of various colors, one against the other, just like those in this amazing stone. It's awesome that something as artistic as this can form naturally, isn't it? The stone has a low rounded dome of 4mm, an ovoid shape that frames the patterns perfectly, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.

Size: 42x23mm
Weight: approximately 32 carats
