Saddle Mt. petrified wood cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Saddle Mountain petrified wood, which might be more accurately called a wood replacement. I can certainly tell you this collectible agate material is a joy to work with, and cuts striking, sometimes scenic stones. The colors are yellowish orange, caramel, old ivory, rusty red and brown, with a few scattered tiny black dendrites; simply amazing when you remember what it started out to be in life. Viewed with a bit of imagination, it is oddly scenic, resembling a forest of evergreens ablaze. This one is sure to be grand in any creative item of jewelry, and either gold or silver will set it off beautifully. The cab has a low but nicely rounded dome of nearly 4.5mm, and a sleek designer shape, with a glassy polish both front and back.
