Description
~ Montana agate cab ~

Offered here is a dramatic and very unusual scenic cabochon of Montana agate, cut from an old stock nodule found on the banks of the Yellowstone River decades ago. It does contain some of the classic inky black dendrites, in a translucent, almost opalescent, agate background; the photo in hand illustrates that best, and looks most like the stone in person. There are also some odd layers of white at one end that look like opalite to me. Within the stone is a tiny scene of a mountain, or volcano, if you will, complete with smoke issuing from its peak. It's a keeper!! The cab has a low but well rounded dome of 4+mm, a designer 'pillow' shape, and a slick, glassy polish both front and back.

Size: 29x20mm
Weight: approximately 25 carats
