Hornitas poppy jasper cab ~
Offered here is a fancy cabochon of rare Hornitas poppy jasper, collectible old stock from California. Primo material like this has become mighty scarce these days, even moreso than Morgan Hill poppy jasper. This large beauty has a bold pattern that really catches the eye. Its creamy orbs are edged with burgundy, against a contrasting background of deep, rich red. There are a couple web-like veins present, which are quite well healed, so the stone is wholly sound and stable; there are none of the fractures so common to the poppy jaspers from California's earthquake zones. The cab has a very high rounded dome of 7mm, a gracefully elegant shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
