Imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a large deluxe cabochon of imperial jasper, fantastic old stock Mexican material the like of which hasn't been found in many years. If any does turn up in the marketplace, it commands a steep price. In fact, just a month or so ago, I saw a small but fairly nice slice sell for $80! This wonderful species of porcelain jasper is a great favorite with collectors, and this classic example includes gemmy green areas that are translucent, shown in the backlit photo. The body of the stone has an interesting pattern of subtle curtain-like bands, with some amazing streamers in minty green overlaid crosswise. No doubt you'll be delighted and inspired when this one arrives! It has a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a crisp designer shape that enhances the jasper nicely, brought to a brilliant polish both front and back.
