Chrysocolla malachite cab ~
Here is a cabochon of extra fancy chrysocolla and malachite, from the African Congo. This collectibly rare material is absolutely gorgeous, with intricate lacy fortifications galore, a lot like plumes. The contrasting ribbon of bright cerulean blue chrysocolla running through the deep greens of the malachite is truly stunning, to say the least. A close look reveals that some areas of the malachite are chatoyant, like satin with subtle sparkles. Once you hold it in your hand, I think you'll have a tough time parting with this one... It's a keeper! The cab has a very high rounded dome, a sweet almond shape, and a great glossy polish both front and back.
