Horn Coral cab ~
Here is an intriguing cabochon of red horn coral, from Utah, though I should say it's more coral/orange in color, and highly translucent. Horn corals are actually ancient sea life, and you can clearly see the organic nature of this once-living coral in this highly translucent stone. It has the classic 'radiating spoke' pattern, as well as a fancy shape that's seldom seen, and a sparkling crystalline pocket sealed beneath its glassy surface. Front and center for this one! The stone has a very high rounded dome, and a brilliant polish both front and back.
