Carnelian cab ~
Offered here is a gorgeous cabochon of cornflake carnelian, also known as orange chalcedony, from Oregon. It features juicy tangerine orange, yellow and red coloration, swirling from dark to light. Within the translucent body of the stone is a remarkable pattern of internal 'cornflakes' so sought after by collectors. The colors are so strongly saturated that it overwhelms the camera's eye and tends to wash out details like the flakes in this cab, so please be sure to click the photos up to their full size for the best view. The stone has a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
