Opalite cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of opalite, from the Brush-Wellman beryllium mine in Utah. Sometimes known as bertrandite, Tiffany stone, ice cream opal, and even 'Purple Passion', no matter what you call it, it's certainly gorgeous stuff! I'm told this rare opal gets its beautiful purple coloration from fluorite. This fine example has both light and dark shades of purple, with accenting streaks and florettes of white adding oodles of extra character. It's a show-stopping cab that will contrast nicely with either gold or silver, for an heirloom quality piece of wearable art. It has a very high rounded dome of 7mm, a crisp symmetrical designer 'shield' shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
